Wesley Attew Presents the Intoxicating Folk Ballad "Where Do We Go From Here"

This song plunks along with a pleasing, percussive, folk-rhythm. As Attew asks about or makes observations of the “signs of the times”, he “prays for rain,” in a way that suggests that there are uncertain moments that we have to look for direction into a future, where the essentials, we hope, will be provided. He sings about “leaving the stratosphere,” as though escape were the option. These possibilities all circle around the main refrain, of “Where Do We Go From Here.” There is a current sense of the present, as well as a looking into the distance, as though the imminent now is flawed, or a jumping-off point, or just an exasperation. There is something telling in Attew's singing and guitar-playing and something that is reminiscent of Jeremy Enigk's mysterious and folklorique baladeering. Also, echoes of Dylan can be hear in this testament to eras going by. Good for him for posing a positive query in this unknown day.
