Kele Flemings' latest remix, Sturgeon Love, is now available, showcasing the resilience and determination to overcome challenges and thrive.
Vancouver’s own Kele Fleming is a unique blend of Linda Perhacs and Ani DiFranco, embodying 70's psychedelic vibes with a feminist and intellectual twist. She seamlessly weaves quotes from Darwin and Foucault into her songs, showcasing her intelligence and depth. With vocals that can shift from innocent choir girl tones to the raw power of Sinead O'Connor, Kele delivers profound lyrics that serve as calls to action. Her music is a powerful protest against the world's indifference and apathy, making a bold statement about the state of humanity.
Kele just recently released a particularly powerful song “Sturgeon Love” written by Kele and remixed/ mastered by Marc O’Rell.
This song is a tribute to the vitality and essence of life. I composed it specifically for the ancient Fraser River sturgeon, which hold great significance to me as a symbol of resilience and determination. The Fraser River, a vast river system in Vancouver where I resided for numerous decades, has been home to these sturgeon for thousands of years. These creatures, reminiscent of the era of dinosaurs, have remained enigmatic and concealed within the river's depths for countless generations... until the arrival of white settlers on Canada's Pacific shores, who "discovered" them.
This discovery brought about a profound transformation. The song itself possesses a rhythmic quality that mirrors the flow of a river, while its lyrics and melody evoke the enigmatic wonders of life concealed within its murky waters. It captivates and enchants listeners with its expression of love that permeates throughout the composition. Renowned German engineer and producer, Marc O'Rell, has given the song a complete dancefloor treatment. The rhythmic melody has now been transformed into a dance anthem.
