We Think Goldie Boutilier is an Angel

By Maddy Cristall

The creative juggernaut Goldie Boutilier has just dropped an ethereal new track to launch you right into autumnal bliss. The globetrotting music mastermind is from the quaint town of Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia, moved to LA at the ripe age of 20 to explore a bustling pop career and is now an indie darling appropriately rooted in Paris. She has truly found her sound and that sound is a celebration of captivating authenticity.

This past spring, Goldie released the compelling and catchy “He Thinks That I’m an Angel” which garnered some well deserved attention. She just dropped an impossibly charming version of the song featuring the highly revered Chilly Gonzales on keys. The two compliment each other perfectly with their old souls and young hearts.

Goldie eloquently expresses…

If you didn’t pay attention to the lyrics you might assume it was a lullaby, but I am apologizing for breaking the heart of a man who truly loved me, but I was in love with someone else. This song had to be the opening scene of my story. It requires the listener to lean in, in order to hear a fragile and honesT voice. He Thinks that I'm an Angel was the first song I wrote when I sat down in the studio to write this album. Sonically, I wanted the production to resemble an airy fresco painting. Vocally I was inspired by the vulnerable sentiment of Dolly Parton's “I will always love you.”

This song is what they mean when they say “vulnerability is a strength” as the track is simultaneously gentle yet powerful. The entire EP is filled with instant classics and this track an excellent taste of Goldie’s boundless talent.
