The Enthralling Lo-Fi Lullabies of Suffer Fools

download-1.jpg

Debbie Debased is the mastermind behind Vancouver Island’s Suffer Fools. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, her new two track EP 'i'maclicheblues // when i was a monster' is a stunning composition of shoe gaze/dream pop/weird rock that Debased affectionately calls ‘trap gaze’.

The big wall of sound guitars blend perfectly with boomy beats and lofi sensibilities, drawing obvious comparisons to Best Coast and gaze pioneers, The Jesus and Mary Chain. But this isn’t your dad’s shoe gaze- Deb fuses these genre familiarities flawlessly with heavy hip hop beats and synthesizers to achieve something fresh and attention grabbing. You will find yourself lost in the soundscape while banging your head.

The Pacific Northwest has been on a tear lately with incredible new releases from a whole slew of fresh bands and you can add this one to the list. Keep your eyes and ears out for Suffer Fools as they are sure to be making some noise this year.
